On Friday, August 29, 2008, The Rev. & Mrs. Ellis
Clifton became the proud Grandparents of Victoria Mercy Hall.
Congratulations to the proud parents Ericka & Torrence Hall and to the
Grandparents. The baby girl weighed in at 7lbs 8ozs.
The Garretts celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, June 29th, 2008 at the parish. Father Ellis Clifton administered the renewal vows during the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist. After the service, a grand celebration was held in the parish hall with a subsequent party at the home of the Garretts. Thanks to all who helped to make this a grand event especially for the elaborate decorations designed by Beatrice Arnold for both the parish hall and the home of Jim & Dorothy and the Chamber Music by Athenee and Zuri Elrington. THE CHOIR IS RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS
The
choir is in desperate need of new voices. If you have not
noticed, our numbers have decreased over the years mostly due to illness
and “moving on”. We need all voice ranges especially altos and tenors.
If you are interested, choir rehearsal is every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at
the church. Looking forward to seeing you. Thanks in advance for your
support. Jim Garrett, Choir Director ATTENTION
ALL PARISHIONERS! We need to replace approximately 30 Prayer books and 20 LEVAS Hymnals which have been put out to pasture due to wear and tear. The cost for replacements: Book of Common Prayer $19.00, LEVAS Hymnal $18.00. Please help by making a gift of a copy or copies. Make your check payable to St. Clement Church. For additional information, see Mrs. Regina Walton or Mrs. Sarah Young. MEN’S
GUILD ANNUAL BAR-B-QUE A sincere thanks to all who supported our annual Bar-B-Que.
Looking forward to your continued support next year. PARISH
QUARTERLY MEETING The Quarterly Parish Meeting was held on Sunday, August
31, 2008 following the 10:30 a.m. service. The two (2) major areas of
discussion were parish finances and building & grounds concerns. The
parish treasurer (Mrs. Sarah Young) thanked all parishioners for their
contributions toward eliminating outstanding bills. Warden Jeff Holland
informed the group of the status of the parking lot and the heating
& air conditioning systems.
MEN’S
GUILD RIVER BOAT CRUISE Thanks to all 83 participants who joined us for our 1st
Annual Detroit River Boat Evening Cruise on the Diamond Jack. Our goal
next year is to attract 125 participants. The event was such an
outstanding success that we have already booked the cruise again for 2009
on Saturday June 27. The boat will leave promptly at 7:30 p.m. Since many
of the ladies wanted to dance, we are exploring the feasibility of having
DJ Love as the DJ next year.
